The Early MiG-21 F-13 Fishbeds — volume 2 decal sheet in 1:72 scale from the Tiger Head Models brand brings a further set of markings for the first production versions of this supersonic fighter. It is an accessory to a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet contains printed decals in 1:72 scale for finishing a model of the MiG-21 fighter in the F-13 version, known under the code name Fishbed. It is the second volume of the range, so it follows on from the earlier sheet and offers further markings. There are no plastic or resin parts in the package — the sheet is an accessory to a kit that the modeler obtains separately.
The MiG-21 F-13 is among the first production versions of one of the most widespread supersonic aircraft in history. From the later modernized versions it differs markedly in the shape of the fuselage, the arrangement of the cockpit and the smaller extent of its equipment, so markings intended for the early machines cannot be carried over to the later variants without thought. The type entered the armament of many countries and in each it received different national insignia and tactical numbers, which makes it a rewarding subject for collectors who want to place several machines of the same silhouette side by side in different colors.
Models of the MiG-21 in its early form are often built in natural metal or light gray, that is on a smooth glossy surface where every border of carrier film is visible. It pays to trim the decals close and to work with a well lit magnifier. When you have finished, do not go over the model with a matte clear coat automatically — with a metallic surface it suppresses the look. It is better to use a gloss or satin clear coat and to flatten only the places where that matches the real subject.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
