A 1:35 masking set for spraying the glazing and window frames on a model of the Hummer from the Zvezda kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hummer is an American off-road vehicle with an angular body, a wide track and unusually large areas of glazing. It is the windows that make the most work during a build: the windshield is large, the side panes have straight edges and the frames around them are narrow. A hand-drawn boundary of paintwork shows up on such an area at once.
The masks are prepared for the kit of the Hummer vehicle from the firm Zvezda in 1:35 scale, so there is no need to trace shapes and trim tape on the model itself. The frames then come out the same width all the way round and the transition between glass and body is sharp.
Wash and degrease the parts first, otherwise the mask will not sit down. Lay it onto a finished, dry base before spraying; if it has an adhesive layer, press the edges down along their whole length so that paint cannot get under them. Spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one, because it is a heavy coat that creeps under the edge and the line then tears. Remove the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it away at an angle across itself, not straight up from the surface. The longer it stays on the model, the more willingly it will take a piece of the finish with it.
The masking set is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise. How many parts the sheet carries and where each one belongs is given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
