The F-35A Lightning II is a single-seat combat aircraft with conventional takeoff and landing. Its landing gear retracts into the fuselage behind doors, so a model standing on the ground carries its whole weight on precisely the thinnest parts. The gear legs are meanwhile visible on the finished model from close up and from every side, including the lines, links and small moldings that an ordinary kit can only capture roughly.
Replacement landing gear legs in 1:48 scale, produced by 3D printing. The set is tuned for Tamiya kits. How many parts it contains and whether the wheels or the bay doors belong with them are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Print supports remain on the parts. On the thin legs cut them off especially carefully, with a sharp blade and a little way from the part, so that the leg does not break; sand the remainder down. The parts are not polystyrene and cement for polystyrene has no effect on them, so use super glue. Wash and degrease them before painting. Paint the legs while they are still loose, because with the bay finished a brush reaches them less easily. When fitting them, make sure the model stands level and that all the wheels touch the surface, and let the joint harden properly before you stand the model up.
For modelers who want the landing gear more intricate than it comes out of the kit. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
