A set of forty-eight unpainted figures of Italian assault troops of the First World War in 1:72 scale. The Arditi were picked soldiers intended to break into enemy trenches, and their equipment and weapons differed markedly from the line infantry. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary polystyrene cement and paint do not hold without preparation.
The Arditi were raised in 1917 as an answer to the stalemate of trench warfare. They advanced without full kit, with a dagger, grenades and light weapons, and their task was to get into an enemy trench before the defenders had recovered from the artillery preparation. They wore black flames on the collar and the dagger became their emblem. Similar assault troops were raised in other armies at the same time.
First wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, or the paint will crack once dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The gray-green Italian uniform comes out well when, once dry, you cover it with a dark wash and bring out the edges with a dry brush.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
