DSPIAE SPP-04 polishing sponges, the finest grade

Twelve polishing sponges in the finest form of the whole range. They are fitted to a carrier holder chucked in a modeling drill or a sanding pen and are used as the very last step of finishing a surface. They no longer take material off, they only smooth out the residual texture left by the previous grade and bring out the shine.

When to reach for them

Only once the surface is finished in shape and has been through all the coarser grades. The finest sponge has nothing to take off, so it will merely polish any groove or dull patch under it and make it more conspicuous. It pays off most with gloss finishes and with clear parts, where the difference between a finished and an unfinished surface shows at once.

How to work with them

• Keep the speed low; heat from fast polishing softens plastic and the surface waves.
• Do not press; the sponge is to work under the weight of the tool itself.
• Clean the part before this grade, as a grain from a coarser sponge will make a groove.
• Rinse a clogged sponge in clean water and let it dry.
• On clear parts a plastic polish can still be run over the surface after this step.

Who they are for

The refill is for those who already use the sponges of this range and have used up the finest grade. They come into their own on builds of cars and motorcycles with a gloss finish, on chromed parts and on clear parts that had to be sanded.

Do not breathe the dust from polishing; work with extraction or at least with a respirator.
