A modeling acrylic paint from the French manufacturer Heller in the shade Silver, a metallic silver. It is not a kit but a paint. The range is water thinnable: it is thinned and cleaned with plain water, dries quickly and has practically no smell, so no mineral spirits and no synthetic thinner. The standard bottle holds 12 ml.
Heller offers two metallic silvers that customers confuse. 011 Silver is the brighter, glossier one, closer to polished chrome and bright metal. The shade 056 Aluminium tends to be flatter and grayer, closer to real unpainted aluminum sheet. If you are building an aircraft with a natural metal finish, they make an excellent pair: Silver for polished panels and bright details, Aluminium as the base tone of the skin. The best thing is to lay both samples on scrap plastic and compare them side by side.
The metallic pigment is heavy and sinks to the bottom, so stir the paint thoroughly before every use, otherwise you will lay down mostly clear binder with no shine. A metallic mercilessly pulls out every groove and scratch, so apply it only over a smoothly sanded, clean base. Count on the fact that it masks badly: masking tape can tear the metallic layer off, so paint metallic areas at the end whenever possible. And take care, because a coat of flat varnish kills the metal effect and turns it into ordinary gray.
For modelers of aircraft, vehicles and ships who want metal surfaces and details without solvent chemistry, and for anyone who likes quick drying and cleaning with water.
