Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Type XXI submarine of the end of the Second World War in 1:144 scale from Revell. The special feature of this box is the interior on show: the model has the hull cut away on one side and so reveals the internal layout of the submarine. It is a more detailed project of higher difficulty.
The Type XXI was a German submarine that, at the close of the Second World War, represented a marked technological leap. Thanks to its streamlined hull shape, a far greater battery capacity and a snorkel it could run long and fast below the surface without having to come up. Submerged it reached a speed of around 17 knots, which made it the most advanced submarine of its day. Only a handful of these boats reached operational service, however, and their concept shaped the postwar development of submarines.
First finish and paint the internal fittings that are visible in the cut-away, and only then close up the hull. Work with thin cement for plastic and apply a primer before painting. Put the exterior on with an airbrush; for the interior details a brush and water-soluble shades suit well for picking out the machinery and equipment. Consider whether to display the model on a stand or as a waterline.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
