A continuation of the series in which every piece brings a different choice of hand positions. Number two will serve where the previous part did not offer a suitable gesture. The sets tend to be acquired gradually rather than all at once, because one project as a rule uses up a single pair. The material is resin.
The stance of the body determines what a figure is doing, but a gesture determines what it is thinking while doing it. An open hand, a finger pointing into the distance or a hand resting on a hip will shift the same figure into an entirely different situation. With figures over ten centimeters tall that difference is legible at a glance and it is worth thinking through before anything is cut away.
Stand in front of a mirror and try the stance of the figure yourself. The shoulder and the elbow determine how the hand can be turned, and a combination that hurts in reality will look unnatural on a model. Hold the chosen pair in place with a piece of modeling clay first and glue it permanently only after checking from every side.
Consider the direction of the figure's gaze as well. The hand and the eyes should aim at the same point, otherwise the figure looks as though it were interested in something outside the scene, and the viewer searches needlessly for what that might be.
