A set of replacement hands in 1:16 scale. The number five in the name distinguishes this set from the other parts of the line with the same subject, so you can build up a stock of hands in various positions. Hands are the most sensitive place on a figure: it is by them that you recognize whether a figure is really holding something or just waving an empty palm.
Swapping the hands is the fastest way to change the pose of a finished figure without touching the torso. It is useful when a figure is to hold a tool or a piece of equipment that the original hand does not match in shape, and also when a hand is damaged during the build. In the large 1:16 scale a hand is also big enough to make it worth working out the nails and tendons.
Cut the wrist square and reinforce the joint with wire: drill a hole into both the hand and the sleeve and insert a short pin, otherwise the joint will loosen in time. Fill and sand the seam at the cuff so that the transition disappears under a fold of the cloth. Cut the excess material and manufacturing marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: modeling cement is enough for polystyrene parts, while for other materials reach for super glue. Build the skin from a mid layer, deepen the knuckles and the gaps between the fingers with a dark glaze and pull the backs of the fingers out in a light tone.
