Responsibility details are not available.
An unusual subject among large-format figures: instead of the customary Second World War theme, Royal Model offers a modern soldier in the desert. The polyurethane resin casting in 1:16 scale captures the equipment of the 1990s: pouches, straps, light headgear for the heat and the weapons the Italian contingent used at the time. The large format makes it possible to work out even small items such as buckles and seams.
The designation incursore is carried by a member of the Italian airborne assault units based in Tuscany; the unit is named after the hill of Col Moschin, where the Italian army distinguished itself in the First World War. In 1993 the Italian contingent operated in Somalia as part of an international humanitarian operation, which over the course of the year turned into a dangerous mission among hostile clans. Desert camouflage, sand-scuffed equipment and improvised protection against the sun are typical of this episode.
Before building it is worth degreasing the surface: resin carries a thin film from the mold on which primer holds badly. Cut the casting blocks off and sand the surfaces wet, protecting your airways, because resin dust is not for breathing in. Cyanoacrylate glue will secure the joints. When painting, it helps to work from the darkest folds toward the light edges, since modern desert camouflage easily slides into a flat beige patch.
It is sold as a kit without paints and without glue, to be assembled and painted at home.
