Aber 1:200 turned metal barrels are a set of 20 barrels for the 20 mm Oerlikon Mk.10 for US Navy ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set of 20 turned metal barrels from the Polish maker Aber in 1:200 scale. It is not a kit but a detail set that replaces the coarse plastic barrels of the 20 mm Oerlikon Mk.10 anti-aircraft guns with the long L/70 barrel. Turned barrels have the accurate slim profile that injection-molded plastic cannot capture faithfully in such a small scale.
The single-barrel 20 mm Oerlikon automatic guns made up the closest layer of anti-aircraft defense on American ships of the Second World War. They were spread around the decks in simple mounts and their slender barrels are a small but prominent detail of the armament.
Separate the barrels carefully and clean up the ends. Cut the original plastic barrels off and replace them with the metal parts, glued in with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a primer suitable for metal. Small parts are easier to paint before they are fitted to the model.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
