The German standard can from the end of the 1930s is one of the most successful pieces of military design of all. The three handles allow comfortable carrying by one person or two and easy passing from hand to hand, while the X-shaped embossing increases the stiffness of the walls and gives the contents room for thermal expansion. The design was so successful that the Allies copied it during the war, and under the name jerry can it is used practically unchanged to this day.
Ordinary cement for polystyrene is enough for the parts; once assembled, spray the cans with a base color and get down to the weathering, as chipped edges, rusty scrapes and a layer of dust will turn a uniform row of containers into a believable prop. Telling the individual pieces apart by color according to their contents, fuel and water for instance, is effective too.
