The large scale is ideal for this type: the machine itself is small, so even in 1:32 the model stays a sensible size, while the glazed bubble cabin, the engine above it and the open lattice tail boom get the room they do not have in smaller scales. The Alouette II is a French light multipurpose helicopter of the mid-1950s and one of the first series-produced helicopters with a turboshaft engine. It was precisely the turbine that gave it lower weight, better performance at altitude and easier operation than its piston-engined contemporaries. It served for liaison, observation, training and rescue duties, flew with armies and civilian operators in dozens of countries and became famous for its use in the mountains. Characteristic is the lightened structure with an exposed lattice rear end and extensive cabin glazing.
On this type the cabin is visible right through, so finish the interior and the glazing frame and dry-fit them before you close the cabin up. Mask the glazing with precisely cut strips; with that many frames it pays off. The lattice boom is made of thin parts, so glue the joints in sections and let them harden, so that it stays straight. Go over the surfaces with a gloss varnish before the decals, and once they have dried even the surface out with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
