The diorama accessory 1:35 Cable reel diameter 65mm represents a large cable drum of the kind that belongs at repair and signals posts.
Responsibility details are not available.
This cable drum from the Italian brand Royal Model is cast in resin and carries a diameter of 65 mm in its name, that is the dimension of the finished part and not the scale of the real subject. It is the largest of several sizes the brand offers, and converted it corresponds to a substantial industrial drum of the kind that in reality lies about at substations, on building sites and at field signals nodes.
What a diorama lacks most are things nobody arranged on purpose. A drum set aside fills exactly that role: it gives the area a scale, fills an empty corner and hints to the viewer what went on in the place, without drawing attention to itself. In the rear areas of combat units it was also used as an improvised table and as a seat, so it goes well with figures in resting poses.
The wooden end deserves more work than the winding itself. A base coat in an ocher tone, a brown glaze over it and finally thin vertical strokes in a lighter shade will create the pattern of the growth rings. Treat the metal hoops with a dark rust and bring them out slightly with graphite. The cable on the drum comes out best if you wind a piece of thin wire of your own color over the top.
The drum arrives unpainted and without cabling; obtain all the chemicals separately.
