Injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary German Fokker Dr.I triplane in 1:32 scale from Roden. The large model faithfully captures the characteristic shape with three lifting surfaces and offers a finely rendered surface and detail in the cockpit and the rotary engine. In the large scale the texture of the fabric covering and the structure of the airframe show to advantage; it is a popular subject among collectors of First World War aircraft.
The Fokker Dr.I was a triplane fighter deployed from 1917. It was powered by a rotary engine and was famous for its exceptional agility and quick climb, albeit at the cost of a lower top speed. It is written indelibly into history as the machine of the most successful fighter pilot of the war, Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, whose aircraft was entirely red. The Dr.I became one of the best-known icons of the First World War, even though relatively few were built.
Cut the parts off and glue them with thin cement for plastic, and fit the small items patiently. Finish the cockpit and the engine before you close up the fuselage. Allow for the rigging of the interplane struts and the control cables - they can be imitated with fine thread or elastic rigging thread. Spray a primer as the base, finish the covering and pick the rib structure out with a fine wash; add the markings from the decal sheet.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
