A large premium injection-molded plastic model of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14A Tomcat in the large 1:32 scale from the top-class Tamiya brand. It is a large and detailed kit: the assembled model reaches a length of about 60 cm. In this kit Tamiya uses metal parts and screws, thanks to which the variable-geometry wings can be moved. The package contains richly broken-up plastic sprues, a clear canopy part and a sheet of decals. Glue and paints are needed for the build.
The F-14 Tomcat was an American twin-engine carrier fighter with a crew of two (a pilot and a weapon systems operator) and with a variable-geometry wing that set itself automatically in flight according to speed. The F-14A version was the basic production variant. The aircraft was designed to defend a task force at long range and became known as a capable and impressive machine of naval aviation.
Because of its size and richness it is a more demanding project, so follow the instructions and think the assembly through in advance. Glue the plastic parts with modeling cement for plastic; fit the metal parts and the screws of the wing mechanism carefully according to the instructions. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. Large areas in a large scale reward fine shading of the panels, washes and careful masking of the gray naval schemes. Work the cockpit and the external stores out and paint them separately.
