L-13 Blanik 1:32 - a Planet Models resin kit

A short-run resin kit of the Czechoslovak engineless glider L-13 Blanik in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Planet Models. The real subject

The L-13 Blanik is a two-seat training and performance glider of all-metal construction which arose in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and became one of the most widespread sailplanes in the world. It served in flying clubs for both basic and advanced flight training and flew on many continents; for a great many pilots it was the first machine on which they learned to soar. Thanks to its rugged and at the same time elegant construction it remains to this day an icon of glider training.

Building and painting tips

First wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and do the sanding with respiratory protection in a well ventilated space. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary cement for plastic. Cut the vacuum-formed glazing out carefully along the outline. Apply a primer before spraying; the smooth painted surfaces of the glider will come out well with a glossy airbrush finish and clean decals.
