Four R-27EP guided missiles, the version with a passive radar seeker head and extended range. Resin castings in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Against machines whose jammers blind the attacker's own radar, eastern squadrons needed something that would turn the jamming into a guide instead. That is how the version designated R-27EP, in the Western code Alamo-F, came about: it needs no return from a radar of its own, because it listens passively to the opponent's transmissions and heads straight for their source. It was one of the less common items in the armament and was intended mainly against radar reconnaissance aircraft and against dedicated jammers.
The set offers four complete bodies, which covers the usual load of a single machine. The letter E in the designation points to the extended range the real missile achieved with a bulkier motor section; against the basic version it is therefore noticeably longer, and at this scale that difference really does show on the model. The material is resin.
Cut the cruciform surfaces from the sprue gates one at a time and lay the freshly separated parts on a soft pad so the edges do not get knocked. The bodies are usually sprayed white or a very light gray, and the seeker head tends to be darker and flatter than the rest. Prepare the color bands near the nose by masking, because decals are not included in the set. Degrease the castings before spraying, otherwise the primer will not adhere evenly. They can be hung on fuselage as well as wing stations, depending on which armament arrangement you want to show on the machine; two units were usual with this type.
