This is not an airplane model but an accessory (an aftermarket set) for one particular kit. It is a 3D-printed pre-colored interior of the pilot's cockpit from Quinta Studio in 1:32 scale. The parts are printed on a decal backing — they are applied like a decal but have three-dimensional 3D relief, so what arises is a photorealistic instrument panel and side consoles of the pilot's compartment with depth, without painting. The set covers the pilot's (front) cockpit and is made for the SBD-5 / A-24B plastic kit by Trumpeter; it will not fit another kit and the model itself is not included — you have to own the kit.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American single-engine carrier dive bomber of the Second World War, famous above all from the Battle of Midway in 1942. Its recognition feature was the perforated dive brakes that made an accurate dive attack possible. The SBD-5 version had a more powerful engine and was among the most widespread. The A-24B Banshee designation belongs to the land-based (army) version operated by the United States Army Air Forces — essentially the same airframe without the arrestor hook for landing on a carrier. The Trumpeter kit allows both designations to be built.
The parts are released from the backing in water like an ordinary decal and transferred onto the parts of the pilot's cockpit. Work with plenty of water, position the parts while they are soft and settle them precisely; do not use a decal softener or setter, and the surface can be evened out with a varnish at the end. No painting and no airbrush are needed — the color is printed.
This is an accessory (a 3D decal interior of the pilot's cockpit), not a model. The plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. The set is made exclusively for the SBD-5 / A-24B kit by Trumpeter.
