A figure in 1:35 scale from the Italian production of Royal Model. It represents a member of the British military police with the rank of lance corporal, who with a division directed traffic, marked the routes of marching columns and patrolled in the rear of the combat formation. It is exactly this role that makes the figure a rewarding one for a scene with a crossroads, a bridge or a column of vehicles.
British military policemen were nicknamed redcaps after the bright red cover of their caps. Their kit included white belts and gaiters, which were meant to be visible in all circumstances, and a lettered armband. The 15th Scottish Infantry Division joined the fighting in Normandy in the summer of 1944 and went through heavy clashes in the valley of the river Odon; later it fought in the Netherlands, in the Rhineland and at the crossing of the Rhine.
The contrast between the khaki uniform and the white accessories is the greatest strength of this subject: do not mix the white pure but slightly grayed, otherwise it looks like paper. Bring out the red cover of the cap with a thin glaze in the folds. For credibility, a dusty tint on the boots and the trousers from the knees down will help.
The figure is sold without a finish. Paints, putty and a base are obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
