Cylindrical auxiliary fuel tanks for Soviet tanks in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. A resin set, not a vehicle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory set, not a vehicle model. Soviet tanks of the Second World War are recognized, among other things, by the cylindrical tanks fixed along the sides of the rear. This was not internal fuel but an auxiliary supply, which gave the tank more range and could be jettisoned in combat. On a model it is one of the most characteristic features: the tanks are large, visible and their fixing by straps over the shell is striking. Against plastic, a resin casting has a sharper rendering of the welds, the filler necks and the straps, and above all it has no parting seam that would have to be removed from a cylindrical surface.
Cylindrical tanks were used on a number of Soviet types and their arrangement differed from vehicle to vehicle and from period to period. That is exactly why it is worth looking at a period photograph: the number of tanks, their placement and the way they were fixed changed and are a good clue to the period. The tanks were often carried empty as well, because crews used them as storage space.
The set is for modelers of Soviet vehicles who are finishing off the rear and the sides of a vehicle. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic and calls for a different glue.
It is not a vehicle model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
