A checkpoint on a road was a common sight in the rear areas during the war. On it the Feldgendarmerie, the German field police, checked papers and orders, directed columns and detained those who were moving outside their unit. The gendarmes could be told at a distance by the metal gorget on a chain. The set builds two vehicles around them that really did meet at such a scene: a three-ton truck under the factory designation 3,6-36S and the light off-road car Kfz.1 of type 170VK with an open body.
The edition marked as a big set brings both vehicles and the figures of the Feldgendarmerie together in one package, all in 1:35. The parts are of plastic on sprues, and the models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. The range of the sprues enclosed and the choice of markings are given in the instructions included.
Work in subassemblies and do not hurry: there are many parts in a set like this and much of it will fit only in a certain order. Finish and paint the cabs and the cargo bed before you close them up, because afterwards a brush will not reach inside. Plan the layout of the whole scene in advance, so that the vehicles and the figures do not stand with their backs to the viewer. At the end add dust and mud on the wheels and the undersides; that ties both vehicles into a single scene.
For the builder of dioramas who wants to get a whole scene in one purchase. A base, terrain, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
