The accessory set 1:35 German DAK boots-assorted positions-WWII brings resin tropical boots of German soldiers in several different positions.
Responsibility details are not available.
Boots set down beside a tent, slung over a crate or lined up under a cot belong among the details that give a diorama the look of being lived in. This set offers them as separate resin castings in various positions, so they can be used as loose equipment and also when modifying figures whose footwear you want to replace.
The German Afrikakorps was formed in the spring of 1941 as help for the Italian units in Libya, and for the conditions there it received a tropical uniform of its own. A characteristic part of it was the high lace-up boot with a leather toe and heel and a canvas upper, completed with canvas gaiters against sand; low lace-up shoes were also worn for lighter duty. The original olive green canvas faded quickly in the sun toward beige and took on a light cast from the sand, so after a few months the men of the same unit each looked different. It is exactly this difference that is rewarding to show on a diorama.
Small parts are easily lost, so it pays to cut them off over a surface with a raised edge and to put them straight into a container. Canvas is painted matte and set apart from leather, which will take a slight sheen; at the end everything is drawn together with a sandy dust shade and the pigment is left mainly in the gaps and in the stitching.
The set holds the castings of the footwear themselves, not figures.
