This is not a vehicle kit but an accessory for finishing the interior. The elements of the instrument panel, the panels and the other inner surfaces are printed three-dimensionally and come already colored on decal paper, so they are applied much like an ordinary decal and still have a visible relief. Painting the tiny dials, switches and stenciling by hand therefore falls away. This issue is the smaller version of the set, so it contains a narrower selection of the key interior elements.
The Land Rover series II is a British light off-road vehicle built from the end of the 1950s. The number 88 in the designation refers to the wheelbase in inches, that is about 2240 millimeters; it is the shorter of the versions offered. The vehicle was built in civilian and in military form, served with the British Army and with the armies of other countries and stayed in service for decades in various guises. The interior was spartan, made up of sheet metal panels and a simple instrument panel, so rendering it well markedly affects the final impression of a model.
First spray the surfaces under the decal with paint and give them a gloss clear coat, so that the element adheres and no silvered edges appear. Dip the decal only briefly, slide it into place and blot the excess water with a cloth; do not press on the relief until it has set. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. Once dry, flatten the interior down and leave the gloss only on the glass of the instruments.
The set contains only the interior decal parts. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
