Vegetation tends to be the last thing that separates a good scene from a convincing one. This sheet offers leaves etched into metal sheet; the manufacturer describes it as a product made of photo-etched metal, so it is neither a loose grit nor pressed paper. The range carries sequential numbers and this piece is the third in it, so it can be combined with the other patterns. The advantage of a numbered range is that it can be added to gradually according to the growth you are building at the time.
An etched leaf is evenly thin over its whole area and its edge stays sharp even after bending. Paper, the moment damp paint reaches it, begins to curl and fray; metal holds the shape you give it and will stand repeated straightening. At the same time it carries its own weight, so a leaf fixed to a wire twig does not droop, and it does not absorb paint, so the shade stays exactly as you mixed it.
Cut the leaves out only at the moment of use, otherwise the small parts get lost. Make the curve of the center with a blunt needle on a soft surface. It pays to paint the whole sheet while it is still whole, with acrylic from an airbrush on both sides; the shades are mixed in only on the leaves once they are attached. Gel cyanoacrylate glue proves itself for attaching them.
The sheet is supplied unpainted; the package contains neither paints nor glue.
