An accessory set in 1:35 for the M36 Jackson tank destroyer joins photo-etched sheet with resin castings and refines the turret as well as the hull.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Royal Model accessory set combines photo-etched sheet with resin castings and is prepared for a model of the American M36 tank destroyer. It refines above all the turret, the covers and the small equipment distributed about the hull.
When it turned out that the 3-inch gun was not enough against Panthers and Tigers, the proven chassis was given a new large turret with a counterweight and a 90 mm gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun. The machine reached Europe in the fall of 1944 and came fully into its own in the Ardennes, where it was one of the few American weapons to punch through the front armor of heavy German vehicles at ordinary combat range. The nickname Jackson caught on only long after the war. The turret stayed open at the top, although later examples were given a folding armored cover. The vehicles still served in Korea and in Balkan depots they lasted into the 1990s.
Level the remains of the connecting bridges with a fine-grained file, not with nippers. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent before joining them, so that the mold release agent from the mold disappears. Seat the metal components only after the hull has been sprayed with a base coat.
The kit of the tank destroyer has to be bought separately.
