An injection-molded plastic model of the American tank destroyer M10 (Mid Production) in 1:35 scale from the Japanese brand Tamiya. The kit captures the characteristic open pentagonal turret with its 3-inch (76.2 mm) gun and the sloped armor of the hull. The open top of the turret allows a view of the gun breech and part of the fighting compartment, and the driver's hatch can be fitted in the open or the closed position. Crew figures to bring the build to life and decals for several marking options are in the package.
The M10 (known in British service also as the Wolverine) was an American tank destroyer used from 1943. It was created on the chassis of the M4 Sherman medium tank, whose armor was lightened and which received a roomy open turret with a powerful 3-inch gun able to hit the German tanks of the day. The open top improved visibility but exposed the crew to fire and to the weather. The type fought in North Africa, in Sicily, in Italy and during the advance across Western Europe.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic. With military vehicles it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the visible turret interior before you close the hull up - they are hard to reach later. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. For weathering use washes to bring out the rivets and details and pigments for mud and dust effects on the running gear and the lower hull.
