A set of photo-etched parts for building the M1025 vehicle in 1:35 scale. According to the designation this is the first of two parts, and the second part is a separate item. The item is listed for the Tamiya kit, so the shape and the spacing of the parts are based on that kit.
The M1025 is the armed version of the four-wheeled HMMWV. It is told from the transport versions by the circular opening in the roof with a weapon station and by the enclosed body. The vehicle is low, wide and full of flat sheet-metal parts, on which the thickness of a molded part is visible at first glance.
A photo-etched part is tenths of a millimeter thick, and that is why it looks like sheet metal even from close up. It comes into its own where a plastic part comes out oversized or where an opening is meant to be genuinely open.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tabs back with a fine-toothed file. Make the bends in a bending tool or over the edge of a steel ruler, as metal bends in one calm movement. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue or soldered. Before painting, wash the surface, degrease it and apply a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on smooth sheet.
The package contains photo-etched parts. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
