A turned metal barrel for the 90 mm M3 gun for a model of the M36 tank destroyer in 1:35 scale replaces the plastic part including the demanding shape of the muzzle brake. It is an accessory for a build, not a vehicle model. The name specifies it for the Tamiya kit.

A turned metal accessory from Master for building a model of the American M36 tank destroyer in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but a replacement barrel for the main gun, meant for the mantlet of a finished model, according to its name from the Tamiya kit.
On a 90 mm gun it is the muzzle that counts. A plastic part has the muzzle either blanked off or suggested by a shallow dimple, and the muzzle brake is molded in halves, so its openings tend to be filled with material and its edges rounded. Turned metal gives a crisply defined bore and a clean transition to the brake. The second advantage is practical: a metal barrel has noticeable weight, so once it is fitted the turret sits more firmly and does not rock every time the model is carried. At the same time it cannot be bent, which on a long barrel reaching beyond the outline of the hull you will appreciate every time you move the display case.
The M36 was an American tank destroyer from the end of the Second World War. It carried an open-topped turret with the 90 mm M3 gun, a weapon derived from anti-aircraft artillery that could hit even heavily armored targets. The design built on a proven chassis and was a compromise between firepower and mobility; the open turret roof improved visibility but gave the crew no protection from above.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the mantlet and level the cut with a file into a square surface. Slide the metal part in dry and check the elevation against the horizontal edge of the hull. Because of the weight, epoxy or gel super glue with the barrel supported until it sets works well. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer meant for metal. The muzzle and the face of the muzzle brake look best without opaque paint - it is enough to polish them, blacken them chemically and add a light rub of graphite. Blend the rest of the barrel with the color of the vehicle and, when weathering, dust it more lightly than the hull.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a stand-alone kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
