An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli tank M51, nicknamed the Super Sherman, in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. It is a new tooling with faithfully rendered cast texture on the turret and the upper hull, running gear with HVSS suspension and one-piece T80 tracks. The package usually contains half-figures of the commander and the loader, jerrycans and tools and several marking options.
The M51 was a deep Israeli upgrade of the American M4 Sherman tank. In the 1960s the older Sherman received the powerful French 105 mm CN-105-F1 gun, for which a muzzle brake and a counterweight on the turret had to be added because of the recoil. M51 tanks proved themselves in the Six-Day War of 1967 against the newer Soviet T-54/55 types and stayed in service until the beginning of the 1980s.
Finish and paint the HVSS running gear, the wheels and the lower hull before you close up the hull. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. The cast texture of the turret is an advantage — after a coat of primer, let it come out with gentle dry-brushing and a wash. A uniform desert-gray (Sinai) shade is typical of Israeli equipment. Dust pigments on the running gear and the lower areas will give the vehicle the character of service in a dry environment.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
