This accessory from Mantis Miniatures offers a faithfully rendered canvas roof in 1:35 scale for a model of the Mercedes-Benz Wolf cross-country vehicle (the military version of the G-Class). It is a resin replacement part, not a kit of the whole vehicle. The most striking feature of the casting is the sagging, wrinkled canvas rolled up at the sides, which looks far more natural than a hard plastic part. The set is intended for the Revell kit.
A softly draping canvas roof gives the model a realistic, lived-in look and replaces the stark plastic version from the basic kit. The wrinkles and sags of the fabric are in the casting itself, so once painted and weathered they look like real taut canvas.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting block and sand the surface down, and glue with cyanoacrylate. Check the fit against the model and sand further if need be. Paint the canvas in matte shades and bring out the wrinkles with a light drybrush and a wash. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
It is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
