An Opel Blitz truck engine deck with a winter blanket in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART. A resin part, not a vehicle model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory part, not a vehicle model. It replaces the engine deck with a part over which a winter blanket is thrown. In frost, crews covered the engine like this so that it did not cool down while the truck stood, and so that it reached working temperature sooner after starting. It was a common practice that period photographs show in many forms: sometimes a proper tarpaulin, sometimes a requisitioned blanket or a piece of canvas tied on with rope. For a modeler it is a detail that places the vehicle in winter, and at the same time a feature made of a soft material that lifts otherwise hard sheet metal.
The Opel Blitz was a German three-ton truck and the most widespread vehicle of its class in the German army. It served in countless forms: as a flatbed, an ambulance, a workshop, a box van and a chassis for bodies of all kinds. On the Eastern Front, running in frost was an everyday concern, so winter improvisations appeared on vehicles regularly.
The set is for modelers of German vehicles who are building a winter scene from the Eastern Front. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic and calls for a different glue.
It is not a vehicle model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
