1:35 Panther A Early Version is a photo-etched and resin set from the brand Royal Model for the early production run of the German Panther Ausf. A. Intended for experienced builders; the base kit has to be obtained separately. Target kit: Dragon.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Italian brand Royal Model supplies this set as a combination of photo-etched sheet and castings of polyurethane resin. It replaces the areas that an injection mold cannot render in a matching thickness: grilles, holds, sheet-metal covers and small carried equipment. The enclosed instructions lead the assembly step by step. The castings are shaped to the Dragon kit.
The Ausf. A followed on in August 1943 from the troublesome D version and was produced by the firms MAN, Daimler-Benz and MNH. The identifying marks are the cast commander's cupola with periscopes and the ball mount of the hull machine gun, which replaced the earlier hinged slot. The earliest examples still carried a binocular gunsight; later ones went over to a monocular one. From the fall of 1943 the hulls were given a paste-like anti-magnetic coating.
Degrease the metal parts, bend them in a bending tool or over a sharp edge and join them with cyanoacrylate glue. First rid the resin castings of their casting blocks and wash the remnants of mold release agent off them. Before painting, apply a primer for metal, otherwise the shade will chip off during handling.
The base kit has to be obtained separately. Glue, paints and a primer are not included in the package.
