About product

Sand armor for the Panzerjäger I 1:35 (PANZER ART)

This is a resin detail set, not a model. It contains castings of sandbags shaped to sit against the hull and the shield of the Panzerjäger I tank destroyer. Crews raised the protection of the lightly armored vehicle in this way. The set faithfully captures the sag and the folds of packed bags as well as any fastenings.

The real subject

The Panzerjäger I was one of the first German improvised tank destroyers: a Czech 4.7 cm anti-tank gun was mounted in an open shield on the chassis of the Panzer I light tank. It was committed from the campaign in France through North Africa to the Eastern Front, where crews made up for the thin armor with exactly these sandbags.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The bags come out with dry-brushing and sandy shades; differences of color between individual bags and dusting with pigments add to the credibility of the scene.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the Panzerjäger I with field modifications
  • Creators of dioramas from Africa and the Eastern Front
  • Modelers with experience of resin

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
