A set of injection-molded plastic parts intended for building scaffolding into a diorama in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle model or a figure, but a structural element of a scene that will complement the facade of a house, a repair shop, a damaged building or a service bay for vehicles. The number of parts, the overall length of the assembled scaffolding and the way the structure is divided up are stated on the box.
Scaffolding solves a problem that almost every scene struggles with: flatness. It gives the composition height and a second plane, it lets you place figures on several levels and it naturally draws the viewer's eye upward. At the same time it is a narrative element that by itself says something is being repaired, built or, on the contrary, falling apart on the spot. It also works well as a frame for the scene, marking off the space around a vehicle or a building without the need to build a whole house.
Cut the thin rods and rails off with a sharp knife or a photo-etch saw so that nothing snaps off; sprue cutters tend to be too coarse for profiles this slender. Build on a flat surface and check the right angles with a square, because crooked scaffolding shows up immediately on a finished diorama. It pays to assemble and paint the individual sections separately and to join them only at the end. The wooden elements stand out if you lay a thin glaze over a light base and bring out the grain with a dark wash; the metal parts will take worn paint, rust at the joints and fine pigments. Any lashing with rope can be suggested with thin thread soaked in diluted glue.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, figures and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
