1:35 Scraped Zimmerit Jagdtiger - Part 2

What Zimmerit was

Zimmerit was a coating that German vehicles were given on their vertical armored surfaces from roughly 1943 to the fall of 1944. It was to prevent magnetic anti-tank charges from being attached to the armor. A regular texture was created in the soft coating with a tool, so the surface of a vehicle did not stay smooth and acquired a characteristic grid. The patterns differed according to the maker of the vehicle and according to the workshop, and it is precisely that texture that makes German vehicles of this period such an unmistakable sight on a model.

What the set is for

The set imitates the Zimmerit texture for a model of the Jagdtiger in 1:35 scale. A modeler therefore does not have to create it with putty and tools on a finished model, which is work that is easy to spoil and hard to repair. The designation second part says that this is a follow-on item of a line; which surfaces of the vehicle it covers is given by the instructions enclosed with the set.

Building tips

Clean and degrease the surfaces of the model before the work, as nothing holds on a greasy surface. Proceed surface by surface and watch the continuity of the texture across edges and around projections; the eye notices a mismatch on a model sooner than a missing detail. Check the particular way of applying and adjusting the elements in the manufacturer's instructions. Leave the painting until the surface holds firmly and is whole.

Who it is for

For builders of German vehicles who want a faithful surface without forming the coating by hand. The imitation of Zimmerit is the subject of the delivery. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
