The thin photo-etched sheet 1:35 Scraped Zimmerit Panther A Early clothes the early version of the Panther Ausf. A in coating with period damage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The whole set is etched from thin brass sheet and the marking of the coating is pressed into it, including the places where the layer has peeled away. The cut matches the early form of the Panther Ausf. A in 1:35 scale and deals with the sides of the hull, the front and the turret.
The layer was applied to a vehicle by hand with a trowel and its appearance differed from machine to machine. In service it behaved like any hard coating applied to metal: it cracked in frost, crumbled in heat and fell away wherever something struck it. Photographs from the Eastern Front show Panthers missing whole strips, while a machine standing next to them has an almost untouched surface. It is precisely this irregularity that makes a model convincing and sets it apart from the regularly impressed surface we see on production parts.
The sheet is soft and will take being bent into shape with tweezers, but it will not take a rough surface underneath. Chamfer off the plastic, therefore, all the projections and molded raised details that are to stay under the metal. Glue in sections and always let a joint harden before you offer up the next segment. A primer in a spray can has proved itself, as it levels metal and plastic into one surface. Only on that will paint start to hold as it should.
In the box are photo-etched sheets; the model and coating materials are not supplied with them.
