An assault gun without a rotating turret was meant to accompany infantry. The 1:35 Stug III B-C-D set adds to a model of its early versions.

This accessory from the brand Royal Model relates to the first production runs of the German StuG III assault gun, specifically to the Ausf. B, C and D versions, in 1:35 scale. It therefore covers a group of vehicles that differ from the later and far better-known machines both in armament and in the arrangement of the superstructure.
The StuG III was created on the chassis of the Panzer III as an artillery weapon: a low boxy superstructure without a rotating turret, a 75 mm gun with a short barrel and the task of breaking up fortified firing positions rather than fighting tanks. That is exactly why it came under the artillery and not the armored branch. The early production runs of 1940 and 1941 carried wider tracks and a modified transmission, and on the C and D versions the cut-out for the gunsight disappeared, which on their predecessors weakened the armor. Only experience on the Eastern Front led to the long barrel being fitted and to the machine turning into a tank destroyer.
A low silhouette means that the viewer looks mainly at the roof of the superstructure and at the fenders, so direct your greatest care here. Play the gray finish of the first years of the war with shading of the individual panels and dirt in the places where the crew climbed aboard. The short barrel deserves a clean circular cross-section at the muzzle.
Unpainted. Glue and paints belong to the modeler's own equipment.
