The more extensive set 1:35 U.S. M1 Abrams (tamiya) from the brand Royal Model makes a model of the American main battle tank truer with fine parts that cannot be made from a mold.

This package from the Italian maker joins cast parts with photo-etched sheet, so it covers both modifications of shape and fine grilles and brackets. It is intended for builders for whom the outline of a vehicle is not enough and who want to see on a model what is visible close up on the real machine as well.
The development of the M1 tank closed off the search for a successor to the older M60 type in the nineteen-seventies. What was new was layered armor protection, a gas turbine with an output exceeding fifteen hundred horsepower and a low, well-protected turret. The first production vehicles carried a cannon of 105 mm caliber, and later forms went over to a smoothbore barrel of 120 mm caliber. The type had its baptism of fire in 1991 in the Persian Gulf and in modernized forms serves to this day.
Proceed by units: first the hull, then the turret, and finally the small equipment. The grilles over the engine compartment call for cutting the original plastic out, so trace the outline, cut in two passes and level the edge with a file. Wash the castings before gluing and give the metal a primer. Apply the desert shade in several thin layers and accentuate the edges with a lighter tone; an exaggerated wash will needlessly dirty the tank.
