American tanks of the Second World War carried their tools on the outside of the hull: a shovel, a pick, an axe, a pry bar, sometimes a cable and spare track links as well. All of it was held in place by metal straps with buckles and clips, that is elements of thin sheet barely a few millimeters wide. In a kit these mounts tend to be molded in one piece with the hull, so they look like coarsely suggested outlines and the tools cannot be taken off them.

The procedure has an order that is worth keeping: first cut the molded plastic mounts off the hull, sand the surface smooth, then seat the tools and only then glue the photo-etched straps over them. Bend a strap around the handle gradually so that it follows the rounded shape. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you should dose in minute drops. Before painting, wash everything, degrease it and give it a coat of primer, otherwise the shade will rub off the straps.

It is a small thing that a viewer does not notice individually, but taken together it moves a whole model on. It also suits anyone who paints the tools off the model and fits them at the very end. The kit, tools, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
