A figure of a non-commissioned officer of the German mountain troops in 1:35 scale. A display base is included, so the figure also stands up on its own as a vignette.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gebirgstruppe were the German mountain units, that is infantry trained for terrain ordinary units cannot reach: rocks, snow, steep slopes and passes. The equipment and kit matched that, because in the mountains what counts is the weight of the load and the ability to move on foot. Unteroffizier is a German non-commissioned rank, that is a commander at the lowest level, who goes with the men.
A figure in 1:35 scale and a display base, which according to the name is part of the package. Compared with an ordinary figure that is an advantage: the base turns it into a display piece in its own right without your having to build a whole diorama around it. How the figure is divided into parts is given by the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut away surplus material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a short distance from the part, sand the remainder and polish the area. Bond the joints with cyanoacrylate glue; before painting, wash the figure, degrease it and go over it with a thin primer. On a figure standing on its own the whole impression is carried by the face and the folds of the cloth, so shade with glazes in several thin layers, to keep the shape legible. Treat the base sparingly: a coarser surface of rock or gravel, muted shades and only a few accents. The base is there to support the figure, not to drown it out; as soon as it draws the attention to itself, the vignette falls apart into two competing halves.
For collectors of figures and builders of vignettes in 1:35 scale with an interest in the German mountain units, and as an addition to a larger scene. Paints, glue and a display case are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
