1:35 WOODEN BARRELS & VILLAGE UTENSILS

MiniArt 1:35 Wooden Barrels and Village Utensils

This set is a plastic diorama accessory from the Ukrainian manufacturer MiniArt in 1:35 scale - it is not a vehicle model but a rich set of scenic props. It holds wooden barrels and casks of various sizes together with village and farm utensils. The parts are injection-molded in gray plastic with fine wood texture, hoops and staves.

What the accessory is for

Barrels and utensils are among the most rewarding details of rural and wartime scenes - they suggest supplies, farm work and everyday life. Placed by a wall, on a cart or by a well, they give a diorama both scale and a story and combine well with the figures and buildings of the same range. The different barrel sizes make it possible to build a believable pile of supplies or to set them out singly; the larger pieces serve as a strong foreground element, while the small utensils fill the spaces between the main objects of the scene.

Building and painting tips

• Separate the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid plastic cement.
• Paint the wood by layering shades; set the metal hoops apart with a darker color and rust.
• A wash brings out the gaps between the staves, a dry brush pulls out the edges.
• Pigments and streaks give the barrels patina and age.
