In an interior scene the floor is the surface a viewer looks at longest, because the eye travels across it from the foreground all the way to the wall. A plank floor also governs the composition by its direction: planks running into the depth lengthen a scene optically, planks across it calm it down. This set offers a wooden floor prepared in 1:35 scale.
In 1:35 scale an adult figure measures around five centimeters, so even a small area of ten by fifteen centimeters will carry a whole scene with several figures. Plan the floor out before you start building the walls, so that the joint between floor and wall can be hidden under a baseboard or under furniture.
The ground must be flat, or every ripple will show on the finished surface. Lay the piece dry, check the direction of the planks against the front edge of the base and only then join it to the ground. Signs of use belong where people walk: to the threshold, around the table and in front of the stove. Around the legs of furniture, by contrast, the surface stays untouched, a detail that gives a scene credibility more than the best painting can. The exact method of gluing and any surface treatment are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits builders of room scenes, workshops and farm buildings, and equally as a ground under a single figure in a display case. It also serves as a surface under a displayed engine or under a vehicle taken apart in a workshop scene.
