A photo-etched set of fine brass parts intended to replace the cooling grilles on the engine deck of a Panther Ausf. D tank model in 1:35 scale. Injection-molded plastic usually shows these grilles as solid surfaces with relief; the etched mesh is thin and see-through by comparison, so the result looks as faithful as on the real vehicle. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit.
The Panther Ausf. D was the first production version of the German Panther medium tank, deployed from 1943. It was a powerful machine with sloped armor and a long 75mm gun; the engine deck at the rear carried the characteristic cooling grilles above the fans and the exhaust system.
The photo-etched parts are separated from the fret, shaped in a bending tool and glued with super glue. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with primer. The grilles come out well after a wash and pigments, which emphasize their three-dimensional structure.
This is a detail accessory, not a vehicle model. The Tamiya base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
