Zimmerit in the form of photo-etched sheets for a model of the Jagdtiger tank destroyer, 1:35 scale covers the armor with a regular ridged pattern without modeling it in putty.
Responsibility details are not available.
Metal parts with the pattern of the protective coating worked out, which are glued straight onto the armored surfaces of a model. That does away with layering putty and pressing the pattern into it laboriously, where the regularity is easily lost. The result is even over the whole area and raises the profile of the part by no more than the thickness of the sheet.
From the end of 1943 German vehicles were given a coating with a ridged surface on their vertical armored surfaces. It was to prevent magnetic anti-tank charges from attaching, which the enemy in the end reached for only rarely, and the application was therefore stopped after a few months. On top of that a fear arose that the coating burned when hit, which put the whole measure at a further disadvantage. Among machines from the turn of 1944 and 1945 you therefore come across vehicles with this surface and without it, and the subject you choose decides whether you will use the set.
First remove from the model everything that would get in the way under the sheet, and sand the surface level. Offer the part up dry and check the overhang, and only then apply a thin layer of cyanoacrylate glue with a longer setting time. Chamfer the edges of the sheet with a fine file, so that they are not conspicuously sharp. Begin the painting with a base for metal and bring the pattern out with a dark wash, which will run between the individual ridges.
