On this item the manufacturer has joined two materials. The cast resin parts carry a deeper, more three-dimensional marking of the coating on large surfaces, while photo-etched metal takes care of the edges and the places where a thicker layer would get in the way. The set matches 1:35 scale and is cut to the late production form of the vehicle. The castings are shaped to the Dragon kit.
The Panther Ausf. A came into production in the fall of 1943 and changed in the course of it. The most conspicuous mark of later machines is the ball mount of the machine gun in the front plate of the hull instead of the earlier closable opening, and the cast commander's cupola with armored periscopes. The tank itself was among the best balanced designs of the war: the sloped front armor, the long 7.5 cm gun and the torsion bar suspension gave it an advantage that only the unreliability of the transmission spoiled. These machines formed the backbone of the German armored units in Normandy as well as in the east.
Rid the castings of the remnants of mold release agent before the build; it is enough to scrub them in a warm bath with a drop of dish soap and let them dry. Remove the remains of the sprue gates with a cut of the saw and level the area with fine abrasive paper; protect your airways when sanding resin. Join both the metal and the casting with cyanoacrylate, because solvent glues for plastic have nothing to melt here and the joint would fall apart.
The set extends a kit already bought; it contains neither the vehicle itself nor any chemicals.
