Injection-molded plastic kit of the Boeing 747-200 airliner in the unusual 1:390 scale from Revell. This scale is slightly larger than the related 1:450 version, so the finished model comes out a little longer. The kit has landing gear that can be built either retracted or extended, and decals for an airline scheme.
The Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet was the first wide-body airliner in the world and, thanks to the characteristic hump of the forward upper deck, it became an icon of air travel. The 747-200 version offered longer range and a higher take-off weight than the original 747-100 and became the backbone of the long-haul routes of the leading world airlines from the 1970s to the 1990s.
At a small scale the cleanliness of the surface decides everything — sand down the mold seams and fill the fuselage joints so that they disappear once painted. Spray the large light-colored areas with an airbrush over a primer for evenness. Decide whether to build the landing gear extended or retracted for flight. Apply the airline decals over a smooth gloss base and go easy on the wash at this scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
