Firma49 1:48 British Mk III Turtle helmet – detail is the finer variant of the small resin set of the British helmet of the Second World War for figures and dioramas. It is an accessory, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set from the Czech manufacturer Firma49 in 1:48 scale, made as the detail variant of the British Mk III helmet nicknamed the Turtle. Compared with the basic version it puts the emphasis on a more worked-out surface. It is not a kit but an accessory in its own right for dressing figures and scenes. Given the size of the parts it suits more experienced modelers.
The British Army introduced the Mk III helmet from the end of 1943. Its deeper shape protected the neck and the back of the head better than the earlier Mk II. It first appeared in larger numbers with British and Canadian soldiers during the Normandy landings in 1944 and served until the end of the war. The nickname Turtle came from its resemblance to a turtle shell.
Carefully separate the small castings from the casting blocks and wash them free of mold release agent (with respiratory protection). Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer, paint them in flat khaki to olive green; the finer detail of this version comes out once a wash has been applied.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
