Two EGBU-15 glide bombs of the improved rendition, with the penetrating BLU-109 charge, and with them an AN/AXQ-14 pod. 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of bombs of the improved rendition complemented by one data link pod. The letter E at the start of the designation refers to an extension of the original guidance system. The package thus covers the whole fit that a machine carried into action.
The older rendition relied exclusively on the picture from the guidance head, which in rain, smoke or darkness was no longer enough. Adding a satellite navigation receiver and an inertial unit made it possible to aim at coordinates regardless of visibility, while the picture guidance remained available for pinning down the point of impact. The penetrating warhead makes the weapon a tool against strengthened shelters and buried structures. This combination proved itself in operations after the year two thousand. Satellite reception also made it possible to release the weapon at a target hidden under continuous cloud cover, which a camera could not see through.
The fins and the tail surfaces are among the finest parts of the whole set and they crack if cut off carelessly. Support the casting with a finger right next to the place of the cut, therefore, and draw the blade in a smooth stroke. A cracked surface is saved by a drop of cyanoacrylate glue with a little baking soda, which strengthens the joint and at the same time fills in the missing material. Let the joint cure undisturbed for several minutes. An accelerator would take hold at once, but the joint would turn brittle.
Apart from the ordnance and the pod the set holds nothing else.
