Aires 1:48 Fairey Gannet AS.1/AS.4 seats, early version, is a resin set that replaces the seats in the cockpit of a model of the British carrier anti-submarine aircraft. It is not an airplane model but an interior detail accessory.

A resin seat set for a model of the Fairey Gannet AS.1 and AS.4 in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Aires. According to the product name it is the early version of the seats, that is one particular stage of the interior, not a universal replacement. The set is meant to be glued in place of the plastic parts from the kit and belongs among the accessories for more experienced modelers, because working with resin calls for a different procedure than ordinary plastic.
The Gannet was a British Fleet Air Arm carrier aircraft built for anti-submarine work. It was powered by a double turboprop unit driving two contra-rotating propellers, thanks to which the crew could shut one half of the powerplant down in flight and save fuel on long patrols over the sea. The fuselage carried three separate cockpits one behind the other, and the wing folded for carrier operations into a characteristic double fold. The AS.1 and AS.4 versions differed mainly in the power of the engine and in their equipment.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that the remains of the mold release agent disappear from the surface, or the paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a modeling saw, not with nippers, and true the face up with a file. Sand wet rather than dry and with respiratory protection, because resin dust is not to be breathed in. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint and shade the seats before the fuselage is closed, because once the halves are joined you can barely reach the cockpit. A darker base, lightening of the horizontal surfaces and a light dry brush on the edges are what works; adding the belts finishes the whole off.
The set is supplied unpainted, as resin castings for modifying a model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
